Everything we do is created by qualified lawyers. All of the guides on our website, the documents we use, and the will-writing questionnaire we designed were made by experienced wills and probate solicitors, barristers and legal executives. Did you know one in three people in England and Wales die without a will. This can cause such terrible problems and confusion as the law dictates who gets what. If no blood relatives can be traced, the crown can even inherit an estate.
Our story started when our founders Oliver (a solicitor) and Alex (a technologist) discussed a shocking case of a bereaved client facing homelessness due to poor estate planning by their partner. The deceased would not have wanted that to happen. Why didn’t the deceased have a will? Was it because making a will was hard, expensive, inconvenient? Perhaps. In 2008 they worked together to design, build and launch Make a Will Online and they’ve been improving the service for you ever since.
Our wills are suitable for the large majority of circumstances, although if you have particularly complicated wishes, own property overseas or have a large estate, a solicitor could help you create a the more complex document you are likely to need.
